Description: This exceptional series of caricatures was published on October 19, 1907 in The Illustrated London News. Drawn by the noted illustrator Samuel Begg, it captures young Winston, age 32, as he was about to embark on the East African excursion that would result in his book MY AFRICAN JOURNEY. The cycle of Churchill's speechifying "Parliamentary Mannerisms" drawn by Begg is absolutely priceless.

This is a giclée print on glossy stock, disbound from an original copy of The Illustrated London News, in very good condition, save for some corner wrinkles. It measures 9 1/2 x 14 inches and has been matted and vividly framed (17 1/2 x 211/2 inches overall).

SAMUEL BEGG (1854 -1936) was born in London but spent much of his early life in New Zealand. He attended art school in Paris and was engaged by The Illustrated London News. to join the paper in 1894, where he remained for the next 25 years as one of its finest principal sketch artists. His work during the Great War was particularly noteworthy. Begg's skill was so great, his artistry was considered on a par with photography.

Please Note: This is a weighty item and does not qualify for free shipping.
