Description: A rare pamphlet that documents a critical juncture in the run up to war; British Ambassador to Berlin, Neville Henderson' extraordinarily cool and concise official account of his final attempts at negotiating peace directly with Hitler throughout August 1939 before finally abandoning his Berlin Embassy on the 4th of September and making his way back to England as war was being declared. This account became the basis for Henderson's 1940 book, FAILURE OF A MISSION.

The pamphlet has browned at the edges but is in very good condition overall, intact, with light edgewear.
