This slender compilation of speeches about Gandhi and "Our Duty in India" was simultaneously published in especially handsome hardcover and softcover editions, both much prized today by collectors.

Description: Here is the full spectrum of Churchill's INDIA in soft covers; three volumes comprising an utterly unique Pre-Publication Proof copy of the First English Edition, together with copies of the First and Second printings in beautiful condition. The trio are here preserved in a handsome purpose-built, blue cloth solander with gilt spine titles.

At a glance, the Pre-Publication issue appears to be a standard First Printing copy in bright orange card wraps. The printed cover price, however, is "2/6" (2 shillings/6 pence) rather than the actual published 1-shilling price. Handwritten ink cross outs of "2/6" are accompanied by ink notations of the proper final prices:"1/s-paper" & "2S-cloth."

This precise copy is referenced by both Woods in his bibliography (page 64) and Cohen in his (page 375). The condition is virtually as-new. It is the only one of its kind.

Bibliographic numbers (in parentheses) are from Frederick Woods' original Churchill bibliography (Woods), as emended by Richard Langworth in his Connoisseur's Guide; and from the new, greatly expanded Churchill bibliography by Ronald Cohen (Cohen).
