Books About Winston Churchill
Churchill at Chartwell
A very readable account of cabinet affairs in Asquith & Lloyd George's wartime governments, with an entire chapter devoted to Beaverbrook's intimate friend (and sometime nemesis), Winston Churchill. This is a very good copy overall of Volume One of the two-volume First English edition, in a severely worn dust jacket that has approximately one-inch of loss across the upper rear face, wrapping around to the spine. The cloth is bright, the binding tight and the contents fine, however lightly foxed throughout, with a tiny vintage bookseller's sticker on the front free endpaper. Interestingly, the rear jacket flap advertises Churchill's THE WORLD CRISIS.
Bibliographic numbers are from Henry Ashley Redburn's original Bibliography of Works Containing or Relating to the Rt. Hon. S. Winston S. Churchill (R in parentheses) and from Curt J. Zoller's greatly expanded recent Annotated Bibliography of Works About Sir Winston Spencer Churchill (Z in parentheses).
