Guide

SAVROLA

The first and only Churchill novel, a statement of personal and political philosophy delivered as a fictional adventure yarn. U.S. publication preceded the British issue by roughly ten days, rendering the American first edition the true first.

Description: This is the extremely rare, early, illustrated softcover edition in exceptional condition. Produced in the style of a vintage "pulp" (somewhat akin to a Victorian Era comic book), it was issued by Newnes in the publisher's "Sixpenny Novels Illustrated" series. A fragile item, much scarcer than the First English or American editions, the volume was printed on cheap paper that browned with age, bound in slick paper wraps printed red and blue, with two full-page illustrated interior plates on coated paper, hence the designation: First Illustrated Edition.
This copy is missing its rear cover. The front cover is bright, with short closed tears across the face. The spine is complete and intact. The contents are browned, as per usual, but unfoxed.
