Guide

SAVROLA

The first and only Churchill novel, a statement of personal and political philosophy delivered as a fictional adventure yarn. U.S. publication preceded the British issue by roughly ten days, rendering the American first edition the true first.

Description: This First Printing of the Colonial edition, 'Intended for circulation only in India and the British colonies," is bound in a vivid blue-green cloth noticeably different from the standard Colonial Library gray cloth.

The survival rate for these editions was quite poor, due to colonial climate conditions. This copy has done very well, retaining its blue stamping, with fading and wear to the spine and two small paint splashes on the upper fore-edge. The contents are foxed throughout and there is a small bookshop stamp on the front free decorative endpapers, else fine.
