Description: Typed paper caption reads:
"John G. Winant (left) and Winston Churchill sit together on a light railway car enroute to an inspection of coastal defenses in southeast England during World War II, while Winant was U.S. Ambassador to the Court of St. James and Churchill was British Prime Minister. Winant shot himself to death at his concord, N.H. home, Dr. Clarence E. Butterfield, reported Nov. 3."

The photograph is in very good condition with light creases to the upper right corner. The verso is backstamped: "Wide World Photos."
